Amanda Klein and Tyler Johnson grew up in Rochester Hills, Michigan. They attended middle school together, but back then they did not speak much... especially not to each other.
Toward the end of high school, Amanda and Tyler became better friends while taking part in a German exchange program. Senior year, Tyler asked Amanda to prom, and the two had an unforgettable night at prom.
After high school, Amanda and Tyler began dating. They attended college at the University of Michigan, sharing many fun times, stressful times, and crazy life experiences before graduating together in 2012.
Following college, Tyler began his PhD in Seattle at the University of Washington, while Amanda remained in Michigan to obtain a Master's. Soon Amanda graduated once again and began work at Boeing near Seattle.
Amanda is a test engineer at Boeing. When not breaking planes, she can be found dancing, hiking, playing with kittens, or making delicious meals.
She is excited to marry her favorite person Tyler and celebrate with family and friends!
Tyler is a UW graduate student studying machine learning. His current list of after-school hobbies features adventurous and nerdy pursuits like backpacking, chess, rock climbing, and making a wedding website.
Tyler is also looking forward to the wedding!
Our wedding takes place Sunday, June 14, 2015 at Traverse City's Peninsula Room, part of the historic Bowers Harbor Inn:
Note that the Jolly Pumpkin Restaurant is also at this location, so when navigating to the event, you can also find directions to "Jolly Pumpkin."
The ceremony begins at 4:30pm, with dinner and merriment to follow. Guests, please RSVP by May 14th by following this link.
Amanda and Tyler visited Traverse City in 2012 and loved hiking the dunes, exploring downtown, and visiting local wineries. We hope you enjoy this location as much as we do!
Dress is semiformal. Note the ceremony is scheduled for the lawn.
Since tourists love Traverse City summers, we encourage everyone to reserve a place at their favorite hotel, B&B, or campsite as soon as possible. We have also established group rates for a limited number of rooms at the following inns:
Rooms for Friday and Saturday are generally less available and more expensive, so guests planning to enjoy the entire weekend in Traverse City will especially want to make arrangements early.
